More Than 10% of Littleton Streets Set for Repairs in 2026
Littleton’s Public Works department is gearing up for a big year of street repair, with more than 10% of city streets scheduled to see upgrades in 2026:
-
38 lane-miles of surface sealing;
-
1.5 lane-miles of reconstruction;
Littleton uses several maintenance and preservation strategies to keep the street network in optimal condition. For asphalt streets, pavement treatments vary from chip sealing, patching, and slurry sealing to filling in cracks and potholes, to more significant roadwork such as mill and overlay where the top layers of the street are removed and replaced with new asphalt.
Street repair projects are expected to begin later this spring. The Pavement Management Plan will continue its accelerated pace in 2027, with dozens more lane-miles slated for repair and upgrades.
Belleview Service Center: Design Team on Board to Plan Future Facility
The City of Littleton has hired Davis Partnership Architects, SSR Engineers, and Cumming Group to develop a Basis of Design (BOD) for replacing Buildings 2 and 3 at the Belleview Service Center — aging facilities from 1948 and 1961 that no longer support modern public works operations.
The BOD is a planning phase that happens before any design, cost, or funding decisions are made. It defines space needs, operational requirements, site considerations, and technical criteria based on input from the staff who work in these facilities daily.
The consultant team has already conducted site visits and two stakeholder sessions with public works staff, gathering real-world operational experience to understand current challenges, workflow constraints, and future needs. Key themes include conditions that impact safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery; inadequate space for modern equipment; and opportunities to improve efficiency through better layouts.
This process ensures requirements for new facilities are determined methodically before advancing to design, so future decisions are grounded in operational reality rather than assumptions.
The BOD will inform future capital planning, cost estimates, and funding discussions — part of the city's broader effort to address aging facilities proactively rather than waiting for failures.

Greener Together: Littleton Advances Sustainability Efforts
Littleton continues to make big strides on its sustainability efforts, building resilience for the future. Here’s a look at how city leaders are making progress on milestones identified in the city’s Environmental Stewardship Action Plan.
The City of Littleton’s new Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) project is helping city leaders better understand how changing weather patterns could affect the community now and in the future. City staff and expert consultants will review existing data, create detailed maps, and explore how climate hazards could impact roads, water systems, emergency services, and more.
Community input will be essential in helping the project team understand how weather and climate impacts are already affecting residents’ day-to-day lives, from commuting and running a business to staying safe during a storm. This summer, the city will invite residents, local businesses, and community organizations to share their experiences and ideas through workshops, community events, and an online survey. The information will help city leaders make informed decisions and develop policies that strengthen Littleton’s resilience for years to come. Visit LittletonCO.Gov/Climate for more information.
Littleton leaders are also exploring trash and recycling service options outlined in the South Metro Waste Diversion Plan, a groundbreaking study into how waste is handled in our region that recommends strategies for more cost-effective recycling, compositing, and waste collection.
The plan outlines possible future initiatives geared toward promoting environmental stewardship, reducing landfill use, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and regional collaboration.
This work aligns directly with the Environmental Stewardship Action Plan adopted by city council in 2024 and incorporated into the Horizon 2027 Strategic Plan. The city is taking time to evaluate options, engage experts, and develop policies that work for Littleton — ensuring any future decisions are grounded in data, best practices, and community needs.
