Street Smart: Littleton Boulevard Subarea Plan Kicks Off
How should one of Littleton’s key corridors evolve? The Littleton Boulevard Subarea Plan will kick off with an open house next month, part of many upcoming opportunities for the community to build a vision for the future.
The plan will guide preservation, mobility, and reinvestment along this vital east-west corridor. It will focus on enhanced safety and accessibility for all users and evolve land use and design strategies to support future economic vitality, while acknowledging the corridor’s unique mid-century modern architectural heritage.
The plan will be developed over the next year and a half, with a final version anticipated for presentation at the end of 2027. Throughout the process, the project team will work closely with the public and stakeholders to ensure the outcomes reflect community needs.
Phase 1 will launch this spring and will focus on identifying assets and issues, and exploring what makes Littleton Boulevard unique. Community members can expect questions like “What do you love about Littleton Boulevard?” “What is working?” “What is not?”
Want to weigh in? The project page will be launched this month on LetsTalkLittleton.org, or attend the upcoming open house meeting on Thursday, April 9 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Littleton Public Schools EPIC Campus, 190 E. Littleton Boulevard.

The City of Littleton is in the process of conducting a rate study to address rising costs and determine appropriate utility bills for sewer and stormwater — also known as wastewater and storm drainage.
Littleton’s sewer and stormwater systems protect public health, homes, businesses, and the South Platte River. Utility rate increases are necessary to ensure the city can maintain, repair, and reinvest in this critical infrastructure before failures occur.
An independent consultant, Raftelis, is conducting the study to ensure the rate structures used to calculate sewer and stormwater bills are accurate, financially sustainable, and fair. Tap fees, which are one-time fees paid when a new home or building connects to the system, will also be considered as part of the study. The frequency of billing is being considered as well; currently, residents make an annual one-time payment.
The city will host community meetings during the spring and summer of 2026 to update residents on new rates, their impacts, and how they will support long-term reliability in Littleton. New rates are expected to take effect in January 2027.

Littleton Police Department Receives National Law Enforcement Excellence Recognition
The Littleton Police Department (LPD) received its seventh reaccreditation recognition for advanced law enforcement excellence from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) at the CALEA conference and commission hearing on March 14 in Tucson, Arizona.
As part of the accreditation process, the department is subject to annual review of operations, policy, and procedures, as well as an extensive on-site review, which takes place every four years and requires a comprehensive review, including a week-long audit by outside assessors. LPD participated in the on-site assessment in October 2025, working to receive reaccreditation for the full four-year cycle. This reaccreditation demonstrates the LPD’s commitment to professional excellence in policy and practice.
The CALEA commission provides an opportunity for individuals to share feedback, comments, commendations, and other information regarding LPD’s quality of service or other information relevant to the accreditation process through the Accreditation Public Comment Portal.
