Join the I-70 Eagle Airport Interchange Feasibility Study project group tomorrow, September 11, from 5–6:30 PM at the Gypsum Recreation Center to learn more about the project and share your feedback.
The study looks at ways to improve the connection between I-70 and Hwy 6/Cooley Mesa Road near the Eagle Airport to address growing traffic, safety, and emergency access needs in the valley. It also re-evaluates earlier designs and introduces updated alignment and crossing options based on new traffic and environmental data.
This is an open house format—drop by the Gypsum Rec Center Community Room any time between 5 and 6:30 PM to view exhibits, ask questions, and share your ideas. Light refreshments will be provided.
Your input is important in shaping transportation solutions that work for our community. We hope to see you there!
Several major projects are moving forward around Town this fall:
-
Valley Rd./Hwy 6 Roundabout Project – Crews are in Phase III, working on curb and gutter/islands, signage, lighting, crosswalk beacons, and landscaping. Final paving and striping are expected in late September. During paving and striping, drivers should watch for lane shifts and possible detours—traffic details will be shared once the paving and striping schedule is set.
-
River View Sewer Line (Phase II) – Work continues along River View with deep trenching, rough road surfaces, dust, and heavy equipment in the area. River View Road is closed within the project zone but remains open to local and homeowner traffic. Completion is expected in mid to late October.
-
Park Playground Equipment – New playground equipment has been installed at Gypsum Estates Park, Quail Run Park, and Buckhorn Sports Complex. The Gypsum Estates Park is temporarily closed while crews await a missing manufacturer part.
-
Vicksburg Ln. Sidewalk Work – In early October, crews plan to install a new asphalt sidewalk with ADA ramps on the south side of Vicksburg Ln., connecting to the existing sidewalk at Second Street. The project will also include a mill and overlay of Vicksburg from Black Bear to Second Street.
-
Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade – This project broke ground in October 2024 and is currently almost one year into its anticipated three-year timeline. Once complete, it will have the capacity to serve the Town’s 20-year projected growth while meeting the latest regulatory requirements from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) for effluent discharge.
