⚠️ TRAFFIC/CONSTRUCTION NOTICE: |
|
-
South-side road closures remain in effect: Access to roads on the south side of the Hwy 6/Valley Road intersection — including Valley Road, Eagle Street, and the entrance to the High School — remains closed to through traffic. These closures are expected to continue through mid-August.
-
Highway 6 is open: Highway 6 is open through the intersection, and drivers can continue traveling east and west through the construction zone.
-
Recommended detour: To support traffic flow and protect neighborhood safety, drivers traveling to areas south of Hwy 6 are strongly encouraged to use the Jules Drive/Cooley Mesa Drive detour rather than traveling through Old Town via Railroad Avenue. While it may not appear to be the most direct route, this detour is often faster, safer, and helps reduce congestion in Old Town, improving safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and local residents.
-
Traffic support during peak hours: Flaggers will continue to assist with left turns onto Hwy 6 at Railroad Avenue during peak drive times (7–9 AM and 4–6 PM).
-
Functioning roundabout by mid-August: The goal remains to have the roundabout operational when school begins in mid-August. Please note, however, that the project will not be fully complete at that time. Construction work will continue in the area after the intersection/new roundabout opens.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve Gypsum’s infrastructure and enhance safety for all who travel through this area.
