Starting Monday, July 21, access to roads on the south side of the Hwy 6/Valley Rd intersection will be closed to all through traffic. This includes Valley Road, Eagle Street, and the entrance to the High School (see traffic and pedestrian detour maps below).
Once this closure is in effect, a flagger will be stationed at Railroad Avenue and Hwy 6 during work hours (approximately 7 AM – 7 PM) to assist drivers making left turns onto Hwy 6.
Estes Lane and Oak Ridge Drive are now open, and Hwy 6 traffic will be rerouted through the north side of the intersection until mid-August.
To access the Gypsum Municipal Campus (including Town Hall, Library, Recreation Center, and local event venues) and areas south of the Valley Rd/Hwy 6 intersection, please follow the detour routes (see maps below):
-
From the East: Most drivers should exit in Eagle, take Highway 6 west to Cooley Mesa Road, and then proceed to Valley Road.
-
From the West: Drivers may still exit in Gypsum, but must follow the designated detour through the north side of the construction zone. Turn right onto Jules Drive, then take Cooley Mesa Road to Valley Road.
