Lets Be Bear Aware!
Spring is on it way, and our local bears will be waking up soon. Please help keep them (and our community) safe by securing your trash and other attractants.
- Always store trash in a secure location.
- Only place trash cans out the morning of trash day, not the night before.
Gypsum Trash Service customers interested in bear-proof trash cans may call the Gypsum Public Works office at 970-524-3121 for details. Residents using other trash services are encouraged to check with their provider about bear-proof options.
Thank you for doing your part to keep Gypsum bear-aware.

Reminder to Contractors & Homeowners: Permits are required for all construction-related work in the Town of Gypsum.
We’ve noticed a growing number of building, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical contractors starting work in the Town of Gypsum without the required permits. Moving forward, we will be enforcing the additional penalty fees outlined in the town code for these violations. We encourage all contractors and homeowners to secure the proper permits before beginning any projects to avoid unnecessary fines and ensure compliance with town regulations. Thank you for your cooperation!
Summer Skeeters.
Our mosquito management contractor, Vector Disease Control International (VDCI), will again spray for mosquitoes in Gypsum on Wednesday evenings this summer. Although somewhat weather and need-dependent, this schedule will continue each Wednesday, typically beginning in June. The exact start date is determined after VDCI surveys the mosquito larval present in the area in April/May. We will send out further communications once a start date has been decided. In the meantime, if you'd like your residence to be "skipped" along a mosquito spray route, please click the button below to be placed on the skip list. You must make the request to be on the skip list each year. Thank you.

Norgaard Water Treatment Plant Startup Reminder
Each May/June, as the Town begins using the Norgaard Water Treatment Plant to meet summer water demands, customers might notice temporary changes in water aesthetics, such as taste, smell, or mineral content.
This happens because water from lower Gypsum Creek—used by the Norgaard Plant—is higher in sediment and minerals, requiring advanced treatment methods compared to the clearer water from Mosher Spring used by the Mosher Plant. During the initial weeks, as water from both sources blends, customers might notice these aesthetic differences. Typically, these changes stabilize after a few weeks.
We want residents to know that despite these temporary aesthetic differences, Gypsum’s water remains completely safe to drink and fully meets all Colorado Department of Public Health regulations.
Seasonal Reminder About Off-Highway Vehicle Use in Gypsum
Off-highway Vehicles (OHVs) are allowed for limited travel on town roads and streets for purposes of getting to/from nearby recreational trails and amenities, ONLY. Each year, especially in the Spring, we receive many reported violations of OHV use in Gypsum. Therefore, we encourage the public to please read through the Off-Highway Vehicles In Gypsum page to better understand the rules and expectations around this privilege. Thank you.
