For the first part of the week, changing traffic patterns will continue as more of the permanent roundabout is constructed. The latter part of the week gets more complicated to facilitate a concrete panel replacement and asphalt paving of the overpass bridge. If possible, please avoid the area/use alternate routes Thursday, 9/12, Friday, 9/13, and Saturday, 9/14.
-
Thursday, 9/12 and Friday, 9/13 the Northbound lane (only) of the overpass will be closed to all traffic for concrete work. This means Westbound I-70 traffic will be able to exit I-70 using the Westbound off ramp (exit #140) and enter Gypsum but motorists will not be able to get on I-70 Westbound from Gypsum. To get on I-70 Westbound motorist will need to take the frontage road to Dotsero (exit #133).
Note that the I-70 Eastbound on and off ramps will remain accessible and open Thursday and Friday.
- On Saturday, 9/14 both North & Southbound lanes on the overpass will be closed for paving work. This means the Gypsum exit (#140) is basically closed. Traffic from the Westbound I-70 off ramp will not be able to enter into Gypsum on Saturday. Westbound traffic needing to get into Gypsum will need to exit in Eagle (exit #147) and use Hwy 6. Traffic needing to head onto I-70 Westbound will need to take the frontage road to Dotsero and enter I-70 there at exit #133.
However, access to amenities on the North side of the highway (Dry Lake Motocross Track, Gypsum Gun Club and Trail Gulch Road/ BLM) is still be possible using exit #140 on Saturday. This means Gypsum residents wanting to access any of the north side amenities on Saturday will need to go to Eagle and get on I-70 Westbound then exit at Gypsum. When leaving any of these north side amenities, Gypsum residents will need to get on I-70 Westbound at Gypsum and exit at Dotsero (exit #133). Note that the I-70 Eastbound on and off ramps will remain accessible and open on Saturday.

Crews will continue with minor cleanup, striping, and road marking work (arrows, crosswalks, etc.). Lane shifts and flagger-controlled stops may be necessary when this work occurs (during non-peak traffic times).
Please note the new traffic patterns and speed limits along Hwy 6.
