Greeley Water's Construction Crew Provides Added Value
Greeley’s Water & Sewer Department prides itself on effectively managing resources to minimize the impact on customers.
Greeley Water began assembling a construction team in June. The team allows the city to complete projects faster and make sure every dollar is spent wisely.
The crew started relocating 30,000 feet of water lines in the Farr neighborhood this month, a project that used to require an outside contractor.
“This approach to maintaining the city’s water infrastructure provides tremendous value to customers,” said Damen Ratliff, who manages operations for the city’s transmission and distribution team. “In the past, we might have had to combine four projects to attract an outside contractor. Now, we can do them ourselves.”
The team has seven projects lined up this year and hopes to add a second crew.

Landscape Professionals Can Use Rebates on Certifications
Greeley Water Conservation urges local landscape and irrigation professionals to pursue certifications to increase their industry knowledge and support Greeley’s water-wise values.
Based on available funds, the City of Greeley reimburses all costs for class materials and testing fees for select certifications up to $550. Professionals must pass all required tests and receive certification for reimbursement.
Many of the courses are in English and Spanish. For a list of qualifying courses, go to greeleygov.com/rebates.
Greeley Water Conservation recommends that residents choose landscape and irrigation companies with certified staff to maximize their water savings.

Dispose of Cooking Grease Safely to Avoid Costly Clogs
Holiday cooking can leave behind more than leftover food. The grease that remains after cooking that delicious turkey can cause serious problems if it’s disposed of improperly.
Do not pour grease down sinks or toilets. Grease can solidify in pipes, leading to clogs that require expensive repairs and cleanup costs.
Safe Disposal Methods
- Let it cool.
- Transfer the grease into a container with a lid.
- Seal it to prevent leaks and odors.
- Throw it away.
Weld County residents can drop off their used cooking oil at the North Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 1311 N. 17th Avenue in Greeley. Go to weld.gov for hours of operation.

- Drain out all the water
- Cover all exposed parts of your sprinkler system with foam covers or insulation tape to protect them from winter weather.
