News for the Statewide Procurement Community from the State Purchasing & Contracts Office
From the CPO
While I often work with my colleagues across the country, at a recent NASPO (National Association of State Procurement Officials) event I had the opportunity to meet with procurement leaders from the United Kingdom and across Europe. It was remarkable to see that we are all dealing with similar issues as our profession continues to grow and evolve. Gone are the days when procurement was seen as an administrative function happening in the background. Public procurement is now recognized as a strategic and complex field that helps governments across the globe achieve their missions and provide critical services, and rightfully so! As we come to the end of another state fiscal year, I want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank all of you for the integral roles that you play within this crucial field.
Sincerely,
Sherri Maxwell, CPPB Chief Procurement Officer
 Price Agreement Month
Mark your calendar and join us in-person or online! We'll be at Morgridge Commons in Glenwood Springs on Tuesday, August 6th and at the PPA Event Center in Denver on Wednesday, August 21st. We are also holding an online event on Wednesday, August 28th.
What is Price Agreement Month? It's your chance to learn more about these statewide contracts as we not only cover the basics of cooperative purchasing, but also take a deep dive into some of our most popular contract categories.
Who should attend? If you make purchases for a program, have a pcard, or work in procurement (purchasing and/or contracts!) for the state, an institution of higher education, local government, or a certified nonprofit, these events are a great chance to learn and ask questions!
Are all three events covering the same information? Yes. This year we are offering the same content on three different days, to make sure as many people as possible can attend and learn with us.
A very special thank you to our partner, the Rocky Mountain Governmental Purchasing Organization - RMGPA!
NASPO Day in the Life
Our very own Amanda Carroll was featured in the first installment of NASPO's new Day in the Life series! Amanda shares the details of a "typical" day for our Central Contracts Unit staff, and (spoiler alert) she starts with coffee, just like most of us.
Read the whole story on the NASPO Pulse Blog to learn about her daily interactions and how she stays motivated. Amanda was also featured in our Procurement Spotlight in May, 2022.
REMINDER: Accessibility & Procurement
As the State's accessibility standards continue to evolve, its important that we all stay up-to-date on the latest developments. OIT, who is responsible for these standards, has a webpage dedicated to Accessibility for Procurement. They also publish a monthly accessibility newsletter, which you can subscribe to here.
Accessibility requirements are also included in the SPCO's solicitation and contract templates.
