Hello,
This is a reminder that there is still time to complete the Continuing Education (CE) requirements associated with your Colorado Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, or Residential Wireman license. Colorado Statute and Board Rule state that all electricians with an active license must complete at least 24 hours of CE during each three-year license period. CE requirements must be completed before renewing a license. The expiration date for the current license period is September 30, 2026.
If you received your initial license by examination during the current license period (October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2026), you are not required to complete any CE until after you renew your license in September.
CORE COMPETENCIES
CE hours must be selected from among the National Electrical Code Core Competencies:
- Grounding and Bonding
- National Electrical Code Changes
- Theory and Calculations
- Wiring Methods
- Safety Related to the Electrical Industry
At least four CE hours must be completed in the National Electrical Code Changes core competency each license period. The remaining hours may be selected in any combination of the Core Competencies, however no more than four hours will be credited in Safety Related to the Electrical Industry. There is no minimum requirement in safety.
ATTESTED PROVIDER LIST
ALL CE COURSES must be taken through a CE vendor or provider that has attested to the Board that their courses and instructors meet the requirements established in Board rule. For a list of attested providers, consult the 2023 - 2026 Attesting CE Providers List. The list contains vendor names, contact information, and whether they offer classes online or in-person. For information on specific courses provided by a vendor, you must contact the vendor directly.
Licensees are responsible for ensuring that CE courses comply with the state’s requirements.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- There is no limit on the number of CE hours that may be completed online. All 24 hours may be completed online.
-
Licensees are responsible for maintaining their own CE documentation; CE providers/vendors do not supply the Board with CE completion records. Please retain all copies of your completed course certificates for seven years, in the event you are selected for an audit.
This is not a notification of audit. Audits of compliance will be conducted following the end of the license period. If a selected licensee does not comply with the audit, disciplinary action for failure to comply with requirements may be considered by the Board.
DO NOT SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION UNLESS YOU ARE AUDITED\
