Reminder of 2025 Mandatory CE Requirements for Architects

THIS IS NOT A RENEWAL NOTICE OR NOTIFCATION OF AUDIT

Hello,

This is a reminder that there is still time to complete this year’s Continuing Education (CE) requirements associated with your Colorado architect license. Colorado Statute and Board Rule state that all architects with an active license must complete at least 12 hours of CE during EACH calendar year (January 1st – December 31st). CE requirements for the current license year must be completed by December 31, 2025.

  • Though 24 hours of CE are required for the full two-year license period, no more than 12 hours will be accepted by the Board during a single year of licensure.
  • If you were licensed during the current license period (November 1, 2023 – October 31, 2025), please review the Continuing Education Rule Chart for your required number of CE hours.

To qualify for credit, the CE hours must:

  • be a structured, educational activity
  • be in a Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) subject
  • include a form that demonstrates whether the architect obtained the CE hours, such as a certificate of completion or a transcript

  • Lectures, Seminars, Workshops
  • Teaching/Presentations

UNACCEPTABLE CE ACTIVITIES

The following activities will NOT be accepted by the Board for CE credit:

  • Computer-aided drafting classes (except activities in modeling software designated/verified as HSW by the provider)
  • Serving on federal, state, or municipal boards or commissions
  • Rendering pro bono services
  • Participation on a public, professional, or technical society board
  • Attendance at licensing or registration board meetings or any other professionally relevant board or committee meeting
  • Participating in or attending exhibit poster sessions
  • Residency or fellowship training programs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • There is no limit on the number of CE hours that may be completed online. All 12 hours may be completed online.
  • More information about CE may be found at colorado.gov/AES/CE. There you will find detailed information about the CE program and the Board’s requirements.

This is not a notification of audit. Audits of compliance will be conducted following the end of the license period. If a selected architect does not comply with the audit, disciplinary action for failure to comply with requirements may be considered by the Board.
