The Colorado Dental Board is updating information to providers as events warrant regarding efforts to ensure the safety of licensees and patients during the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
Revised guidance from the Colorado Dental Association and American Dental Association now recommends that “all dentists close their offices for three weeks to patients seeking elective and non-urgent care.” Only “emergency dental care and medically necessary care” should be provided, according to the dental organizations. The American Dental Hygienists’ Association issued a similar statement to its membership.
The ADA also has issued a Frequently Asked Questions document addressing specific inquiries.
Information is frequently being updated at this time as data around COVID-19 continues to emerge. Interested parties should check their email for revised guidance from the Division of Professions and Occupations, which continues to consult the Governor’s Office and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on any future communications.
The CDA and ADA websites, as well as the Colorado Dental Hygienists’ Association, also provide additional resources for licensees and should be checked often during the coming days and weeks for the latest guidance geared towards best protecting professionals and patients.
