The State Demography Summit is a one-day conference that offers attendees the opportunity to learn about the most current population and economic estimates and forecasts for the state, its regions, counties, and municipalities.
This year’s summit will occur on Friday, November 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80003

Price Increases for the 2025 Summit
The State Demography Office has hosted the State Demography Summit for 42 years. During this time, the Summit has evolved from a short in-person meeting to a statewide conference featuring the participation of experts from the U.S. Census Bureau, as well as experts from neighboring states and local experts representing Colorado communities. Over the past 42 years, the State Demography Office has relied on ticket sales to cover the costs of venue rental, catering, and the live stream broadcast.
In 2025, SDO increased ticket prices for both the in-person session and the live stream broadcast to cover our expenses. We have worked hard to keep the Summit affordable and to provide the most informative update on Colorado's population. We hope you understand this price increase.
Changes to Continuing Education Credits
Six hours of continuing education credits are available to Appraisers or Real Estate Brokers attending the Summit in person.
The Colorado Division of Real Estate does not issue Continuing Education Credits for hybrid meetings such as the State Demography Summit. Because of this, SDO is offering Continuing Education Credits only for Appraisers or Real Estate Brokers attending the Summit in person. We understand that this change will adversely impact Appraisers and Real Estate Brokers working outside of the Front Range Counties. We hope you understand the limitations of the Division of Real Estate’s policy.
Please contact the Division of Real Estate if you have any questions about this policy.
Please visit the SDO Webpage to access summit information and register for this year’s summit.
Two new Research Briefs
State Demography Office analysts have released two new research briefs:
Language Spoken at Home in the American Community Survey
This research brief summarizes data on language spoken at home and limited English Speakers from the 2023 American Community Survey. The brief also discusses the limitations of this data for assessing the language spoken at home for smaller geographies.
SDO is hosting a lunchtime webinar on Monday, September 29, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. to discuss the results of this analysis. Click here to register
Analysis on Colorado’s Housing Shortfall
This research brief provides a comprehensive analysis of Colorado’s current housing shortfall. In partnership with the legislature, Governor Polis has signed landmark laws to increase supply and make housing more affordable. Findings show that while Colorado has made progress in narrowing the housing gap since its peak in 2019, the state still requires 106,000 additional housing units to meet its housing needs.
The Housing Shortfall analysis will be discussed at the 2025 State Demography Summit.
