Information on the 2030 Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) program
The HB23-1253 Corporate Ownership of Housing Task Force completed its work on June 25, 2025. This task force was created by the Colorado State Legislature to investigate and document the presence of large corporate investors in the housing sector. The final reports and other Task Force materials, including meeting agendas, presentations, and video recordings are available on the SDO website.
American Community Survey Training from the U.S. Census Bureau
The U.S. Census Bureau is offering multiple training session in the use of the American Community Survey (ACS):
Geography and the American Community Survey: July 9 from 12 - 1 p.m. MT
Geography is central to the work of the Census Bureau, providing the framework for survey design, sample selection, data collection, tabulation, and dissemination. This webinar explains how the popular geographic areas, such as block groups, census tracts, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are used to present American Community Survey (ACS) data. Additional discussion will include how the Census Bureau updates geographic boundaries, how geographies relate to each other, how you can use TIGERWeb to view boundaries, and how to relate data to a specific address.

Using the Census API with the American Community Survey: July 15 from 12 - 1 p.m.MT
The Census Bureau’s Application Programming Interface (API) provides a powerful tool for users to build custom queries in order to quickly and consistently access the data they need. In this webinar, we provide tips and tricks on how to leverage the Census Bureau’s API to access American Community Survey (ACS) data.
Using the American Community Survey Data for Grant Writing: July 23 from 12 - 1 p.m. MT
Learn about how data from the American Community Survey (ACS) can answer a variety of questions posed in grant applications or provide information needed to advocate for the members of your local communities. You'll also learn best practices to search for ACS data you need for grant applications through a live demonstration of data.census.gov.
This State Demography Office is making organizational changes to its website. Access to the SDO data resources will not change, but we will be consolidating existing resources and will release new tools over the summer.
The first change will be consolidating the "Crosstabs" blog and "Reports" sections of the webpage into a new "Research Briefs" section. The Research Briefs will be a periodic series of topical reports summarizing analyses conducted by the SDO Staff.
