Discuss Neonatal Care Leave With Patients
Providers should reference Neonatal Care Leave when:
- A newborn requires neonatal intensive or any higher level of care
- Parents express concern about time away from work during hospitalization
- Discharge planning includes prolonged inpatient stays
Certify Intensive Care Admission
Parents will need certification of admission to a neonatal unit or higher level of care before they are able to begin their Neonatal Care Leave.
- FAMLI has developed a “Neonatal Admission Form” available once parents begin their claim application in My FAMLI+.
-
This form serves all required Neonatal Care Leave documentation purposes, including:
- proof of admittance
- proof of relationship
- proof of discontinued care
- proof of discharge
- proof of ongoing care
- Neonatal care staff are able to verify intensive care admission via the FAMLI Neonatal Care Admission form.
Help Parents Avoid Payment Delays
During Neonatal Care Leave, parents will need to log their leave hours in the My FAMLI+ portal each week.
-
Remind families to check “Tasks” in My FAMLI+.
-
Reinforce how timely reporting helps prevent payment delays.

My FAMLI+ Update
Consistent Pregnancy Date Field Now Available
For pregnancy-related claims, healthcare providers will now see a single, consistent field labeled “Delivery date / due date / approximate date of pregnancy loss.”
- This pregnancy date field is now visible for all pregnancy claims, regardless of complication status.
Why This Matters
- Ensures key pregnancy dates can always be captured during certification.
- Reduces back-and-forth and follow-up requests.
- Improves consistency across records and claim determinations
No new steps are required. Continue completing certifications as usual, using the updated field when applicable.

My FAMLI+ Future Enhancements
The following enhancements support clearer documentation, smoother coordination, and less back-and-forth for families and the providers who support them. They are already underway, or planned for future program phases.
Downloadable Reporting to Reduce Manual Tracking (2026)
FAMLI is working toward expanded CSV data exports that consolidate key leave information into a single, downloadable format.
- Reduced reliance on individual PDF notices
- Easier reconciliation of leave hours for patients receiving ongoing care
- Less manual data entry and follow-up during care coordination
- Reduced need to search claim-by-claim for required information
- Better consolidation of leave data tied to patient care timelines
Initial releases will focus on standardized exports, with additional expansion over time.
Self-Service Attestations (2026)
Future enhancements will introduce self-service attestation capabilities within the Healthcare Provider Portal.
- Reduced need for repeated searches across individual claims
- Improved access to essential claim and certification data
- Faster completion of documentation when caring for high-volume patient populations
End-to-End Leave Accuracy (2026)
Longer-term enhancements will support more accurate documentation and clearer communication for families navigating complex care journeys.
- Clearer visibility into when patients move between leave types (for example, Neonatal Care Leave → Bonding Leave)
- Reduced confusion when supporting patients through extended or sequential care needs
