Dear Employers,
Late last month, Governor Jared Polis signed SB25-144, Concerning Changes to the ‘Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act’, into law.
The law creates a new leave category, called Neonatal Care Leave, which allows parents covered by the FAMLI plan (or other state-approved paid leave plan) to take up to 12 weeks of paid time off while their newborns are in a neonatal intensive care unit.
The law also lowers premiums for FAMLI coverage. Starting January 1, 2026, premiums will be set to 0.88% of wages.
No action is required on your part at this time. The Division is drafting rules concerning the new leave type, and will hold a public hearing about those rules before they are adopted. More information will be made available in the coming months.

For all you do in support of workers, families, and community prosperity — thank you.
