DOWC EDI Claims 3.1 Upgrade
DOWC’s EDI Claims Release 3.1 Trading Partner Registration information:
The Division of Workers' Compensation (DOWC) has important news regarding the Trading Partner Registration and Instructions. This information can be found at Verisk's EDI Registration page. Trading Partners who fall under the following categories are encouraged to register:
- Third Party Administrators (TPA): Those who are transmitters and will be reporting Colorado claims on behalf of Insurers and/or self-insurers.
- Insurance Carriers: Those who are transmitters, have written a policy, and are licensed to write workers’ compensation insurance in Colorado.
- Self-Insured Employers: Those who are transmitters, approved to be Self-Insured in Colorado, and are self-administered.
- If any individual or organization fits into these groups and has not yet registered for the transition from IAIABC EDI Claims Release 1.0 to Release 3.1, the DOWC strongly encourages them to do so.
DOWC’s EDI Claims Release 3.1 Test Plan Information
Individuals can check out the Test Plan Verisk's Implementation Information page. Testing is scheduled to start on May 1, 2025, and conclude on July 10, 2026. During this testing period, Colorado will continue to handle FROI and SROI EDI claims in Release 1 format until the official switch to EDI Release 3.1 standards occurs on July 30, 2026.
Trading Partners will need to test using either the Direct SFTP Filing Method or an EDI Vendor that assists with their EDI reporting. It is important to note that testing is not required for those using the wcPrism Jurisdiction Web Entry or if an EDI Vendor is managing testing.
Key Information About Test Files
To ensure smooth operations, test files must contain accurate information that matches the Trading Partner Profile. For testing, the Test/Production Indicator (DN0104) in position 82 of the Header Record must be set to ‘T’ for all tests. Additionally, testing for MTC UR will be paused until further updates are provided.
