April spotlight: How FAMLI supports health care providers
Health care providers like you are essential for helping patients access Colorado’s Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program.
And paid-leave benefits are proving to be an essential benefit for health care providers themselves.
According to a national survey published last month in the Journal of the American College of Radiology, radiologists believe paid family and medical leave is an important factor when choosing a practice. More than 400 radiologists told researchers that they consider paid-leave policies when evaluating career moves.
“Recognition and support for this issue is growing across the United States, which is reflected in our surveyed population, with most respondents citing [paid family medical leave] as an important factor when evaluating a job or training opportunity,” researcher Dr. Kirti Magudia of Duke University wrote.
Colorado health care providers can learn more about taking FAMLI benefits for themselves on our Individuals & Families page.

Coming Soon! FAMLI upgrades to keep your account secure and simplify license info
We’re making some exciting upgrades to the My FAMLI+ portal used by health care providers to certify serious health conditions.
Starting later this month, registered health care providers will get automated reminders every six months to review and ensure their account information is up to date. Another upgrade makes it simpler for providers to choose the license they use to certify claims.
These are just the latest enhancements to make sure our portal remains secure and seamless. Did you know that Colorado is the only state that gives health care providers a paperless way to submit documentation to help their patients access paid family and medical leave?
We know that no one goes into medicine to fill out a bunch of paperwork. That’s why we’re constantly looking for ways to improve the portal for health care providers. Still not registered in the portal? It’s easy and can save you tons of time. Register today! If you need help registering or verifying your license, we have how-to videos and a step-by-step guide available on our website 24/7.

Include FAMLI in your after-visit summaries!
After-visit summaries help patients on the next steps in their health journey.
Now you can make those summaries even more valuable by letting your patients know about paid family and medical leave in Colorado. We encourage you to copy-and-paste the message below into your after-visit summaries:
Did you know? Nearly all workers in Colorado qualify for paid leave to take care of themselves or a loved one with a serious health condition. Pregnancy qualifies as a serious health condition, and both parents are eligible to take up to 12 weeks to bond with a new child. Find out more at famli.colorado.gov.
We also encourage you to print and include our “What-Is-FAMLI” flyers in your discharge paperwork! They are available in both English and Spanish. These flyers are a great introduction to FAMLI, and will help your patients know the leave benefits available to them.
