LMI Update: New Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) Data for 2nd Quarter 2024 Released
|
|
The Office of Labor Market Information (LMI) has published the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) for Q2 2024. The delay arose from the need for additional data cleanup in order to provide the maximum quality of data.
According to normal procedure, LMI submitted our Q2 2024 file to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in early October. The BLS made the decision to suppress Colorado’s Q2 2024 data. Since the submission of the Q2 2024 file in early October, Colorado has made significant progress in data cleanup to provide the superior data quality that our users have come to know. Due to the standard production schedule with the BLS, the BLS will not receive the cleaned up Q2 2024 data until after our Q3 2024 deliverable in early January.
We're making Colorado's QCEW Q2 2024 data available to you now on LMI Gateway.
Improvements to the data as a result of our cleanup efforts include:
- The total of establishments in Colorado data is 6.3% less than what the BLS published due to unemployment insurance inactivating over 30K employers in their system and these data filtering into QCEW’s system.
- The total of all employment in Colorado data is 19.4% higher than what the BLS published due to QCEW data cleanup.
- The total of all wages in Colorado data is 18.1% higher than what the BLS published due to QCEW data cleanup.
Our November employment situation will be released this Friday, December 20. As always, we’ll respond to questions about our QCEW data and employment situation report as soon as we are able.
