Employers & Third Party Administrators: Update Your HR Point of Contact in My FAMLI+ Employer
Now that your employees can apply for FAMLI leave, don’t forget to add the contact information for your HR Benefits Manager in My FAMLI+ Employer.
This designated contact will be the go-to person who receives updates when an employee applies for FAMLI leave. This documentation will now also be delivered via email (in addition to a mailed letter). If a point of contact isn't provided for an HR Benefits Manager in My FAMLI+ Employer, the employee benefit documentation will be sent to the main email address and a mailing address for the account holder on file.
While you’re at it, don’t forget to make sure all of your contact information (including your email address) is up to date. For more information, please refer to Page 41 of the Employer User Guide on our My FAMLI+ Employer page.

Important FAMLI Updates for Local Governments and Their Employees
The recent updates in the FAMLI portal have been deployed. These updates impact the registration process and the management of coverage for Employees of Opted-Out Local Governments (EOOLGs) and Local Governments. Please review the following important changes:
-
Employees of Opted-Out Local Governments must now register in My FAMLI+ Employer and elect to participate in the FAMLI program to take advantage of its benefits. This is a critical step for accessing the family and medical leave benefits offered under FAMLI.
-
Employees of an Opted-Out Local Government now have the flexibility to enter into or exit out of a remitting relationship with their Local Government employer. New Registrants of Employees of Opted-Out Local Governments are presented with this opportunity during registration. For those that already have an account, this is also available for the EOOLG in the Manage My Account section of the dashboard, under "Edit" for account information.
-
Local Government Employees will manage their relationship with their employer as part of electing to participate in FAMLI, including granting their employer permission to upload wage reports and pay their premiums.
-
Local Government Employers planning to remit premiums and wage reports on behalf of their employees will now have to be granted access by their employees.
The FAMLI Division understands these updates may prompt questions or require further clarification. To assist you through this transition, the Division has updated the online portal with helpful information regarding these changes. You can find this information at myfamliplusemployer.state.co.us
Please refer to the User Guide here to learn more about the process.
If you have any immediate questions or need further assistance, please reach out to our call center at 1-866-CO-FAMLI (1-866-263-2654).

Employers are Asking
Q: What information will be shared with employers when a claim is filed by an employee?
A: Employers will be notified when employees file a claim for FAMLI benefits, but these notifications will never share any specific medical information provided by Health Care Providers (HCPs). These notifications inform employers that their employee has applied for FAMLI leave and will detail the dates and hours of absence. Employers are notified at other times, including when claims are approved or denied, when there's a change in the claim end date, and when FAMLI leave determination is appealed.
Q: How does an employer switch to the state FAMLI plan after having an approved private plan?
A: An employer may voluntarily terminate their approved private plan by notifying the FAMLI Division and their employees in writing at least 30 days before the voluntary termination’s effective date. Employers should then notify the FAMLI Division at CDLE_FAMLI_PrivatePlans@state.co.us
The employer must continue the approved private plan’s coverage through the termination’s effective date. If an employer decides to opt into the state plan after opting for a private plan, they are required to remain in the state plan and pay premiums for at least 3 years. If the employer decides to return to a private plan before the end of the 3 years, the employer must pay the premium that would have been required for the remainder of the 3-year period.
If an employer decides to opt into the state plan after opting for a private plan and has not yet received their refund, as long as their private plan went into effect by 1/1/24, the employer remains eligible for a refund, regardless of whether (and when) they switch back to FAMLI after 1/1/24.
