Employers who get approval to use a private plan will be eligible for a refund for premiums paid in 2023, if their private plan has an effective date on or before January 1, 2024, and they submit their application for private plan approval on or before October 31, 2023.
The FAMLI Division will reach out to all employers with approved private plans in order to get their preference for receiving their refund (ACH Credit or paper check).

We're introducing an upcoming enhancement for My FAMLI+ Employer: Employers will soon have the option to designate a dedicated point of contact for their HR Benefits Manager. This designated contact will receive documentation when employees begin applying for FAMLI leave later this year. If an employer does not have a designated HR Benefits point of contact in My FAMLI+ Employer, employee benefit documentation will be sent to the main account holder on file. Make sure your subscription preferences are marked to receive updates for Company Administrators and/or Third Party Administrators to be the first to know when this feature becomes available in early November.
Attention Health Care Providers: very soon your patients will start applying for paid family and medical leave benefits! You can help make their experience seamless by registering and verifying your license in, My FAMLI+, the online portal health care providers will use to certify their patients’ FAMLI claims when the claimant application system opens up later this year.
For those of you that have registered as an employer in My FAMLI+ Employer, the portal that is used to upload wage reports and pay FAMLI premiums, the health care provider portal is different. Coloradans will use My FAMLI+ to apply for FAMLI leave, and they will need to identify their doctor when they do. When you register in the system, you will make life easier for yourself and your patients. Your patients will be able to find you in the system, and you’ll be notified whenever they apply for benefits. Then you, or a delegated staff member, can certify their Serious Health Condition Form all online, saving your patient–and your practice–from pushing paperwork. Check out our how-to videos and user guide to get it done today and be at the forefront of this vital initiative!
We would like to invite you to our upcoming FAMLI Webinar for health care providers, November 13 at 9:30 a.m. We look forward to seeing you and answering your questions!

We know that Coloradans are eagerly waiting for FAMLI benefits to roll out in January! The FAMLI team is working to launch the benefit application system before the end of the year, so Coloradans will be able to apply for benefits for anticipated leave in the very near future.
Individuals will use My FAMLI+ to apply for FAMLI leave and manage their benefit payments. Make sure you are subscribed to receive updates for Individuals and Families to be notified once the system launches. In the meantime, you can learn more about the different reasons you can take FAMLI leave and how you can take FAMLI leave on our Individuals and Families page.
Congratulations if you became a parent in 2023 or are expecting a little one in 2024! We know you’re eager to apply for FAMLI leave, and our experts addressed dozens of questions about Parental (Bonding) Leave claims during our October Live Webinar. If you missed the session, the recording and slide deck is on our webinars page with previous recordings of past sessions. The recordings are also available on our YouTube channel.

FAMLI celebrates Coloradans with disabilities and their families as the State prepares to launch the new voter-approved program to keep them on the job. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is proud to celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month and to increase public awareness about the untapped talent resource that exists in people with disabilities. FAMLI is certain to help that untapped talent resource stay in the workforce and show employers how much they have to contribute.

We want to hear your personal stories. Please tell us how FAMLI could have or will help you. Each month we’ll feature stories like these:
"Through my nonprofit employer, I only received 5 weeks of parental leave when my baby was born. At the end of the 5 weeks, I was told I needed to return to my full-time duties which included a week-long trip in the backcountry doing field work. At the time, though we had been on the waitlist for a spot at all of the daycares in the area since the two pink lines showed up, there were still no spots available. On top of that, my husband works in wildland fire and could be called away at a moment's notice, so I didn't have back up for my weeks in the field. Beyond that, a 5 week old baby is so tiny- we were just barely figuring things out like breastfeeding, schedules, how to nurture a new tiny human - the thought of sticking them in daycare for 12 hours a day to hand them off to someone else was heartbreaking. So, I had to leave my job of 16 years. If we had more leave time, I feel we possibly could have procured a spot in a daycare and possibly been more able to work through it." - Anonymous
