This is an official communication from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment Division of Family and Medical Leave Insurance.

When Colorado voters passed Proposition 118 back in 2020, they paved the way for Colorado’s new paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program. The FAMLI Division within the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CLDE) is implementing the application Coloradans will use to apply for paid leave benefits once those benefits become available in 2024.

Licensed health care providers will play a vital role in making sure that the FAMLI program is an accessible and meaningful benefit for workers across Colorado.
The FAMLI benefits application system we are building will allow health care providers to register in the system and make a recommendation on leave duration for their patients based on their condition or treatment plan. Registering directly in the system will allow you to provide an elevated patient experience by supporting them – and their families – when a serious health condition prevents them from working. The more providers who use our online system means fewer patients will need to bring documents to a provider office during stressful life events. Registering in the system will also protect your credentials and ensure approved and licensed health care providers are making treatment decisions impacting a patient's ability to work.Â
We anticipate launching the health care provider portal towards the end of the summer. Once it’s ready, we’ll have step-by-step user guides and how-to videos published on famli.colorado.gov to support you and your staff through the process. In the meantime, we encourage you to subscribe here to get updates related to our health care provider portal as soon as they are available.
