Survey Says!
The FAMLI Division is growing fast, and we all want to get to know everyone a little better! Help us bring our FAMLI Family a little closer by answering a few simple, fun filled questions about yourself. Responses will be shared on the FAMLI intranet.
The Why Wall
We have a fun new project called the “Why Wall”! This is a way for you to tell us what inspires you to serve Coloradans through paid family and medical leave! Choose a template, tell us your story and add a picture if you like!
Share it with Lia Christians: lia.christians@state.co.us. Then, visit the 9th floor at 633 to see the “Why Wall” in person!
The Claim Management branch continues to work with Deloitte to design and build the MyFAMLI+ benefits system. These are the current priorities:

- Healthcare Provider registration and portal
- Claim filing/processing
We have two Unit Managers that will be joining the team on March 13th!
- Lisa Aragon - Pregnancy & Bonding Manager
- Lauren Sparks - Care of Family Member Manager
Policy Corner
For now we've updated our guidance on wages subject to FAMLI premiums to reflect that insofar as FAMLI premiums and benefits are calculated based on an "employee's wages," we are generally not considering post-employment payments. However, payments that would have otherwise been paid out, had employment not been terminated, are still considered wages under FAMLI, for example final wages, salaries, bonuses, commissions, or payouts of PTO, vacation, or sick time. You can find the wage guidance clarification on the FAMLI website. It is located on the Employer page under Wages Subject to FAMLI Premiums.
We're in the process of drafting an amendment to our definition of wages that would completely divorce it from UI's "wages" definition and more align with the "gross wages" standard most employers and employees are familiar with. We hope to have that proposed amendment filed later this spring.
Upcoming Rules: Rules governing employer retaliation and interference as well as program integrity will be circulated to stakeholders at the end of the month and should be filed for official rulemaking in the middle of April. These will be our last major rule additions prior to go-live on January 1, 2024; however, we are planning a “clean-up” review in the fall.
New Resources!
- Small Business Guide to FAMLI has been added to the FAMLI Toolkit. It’s available in English and Spanish.
- Blog post: Not Seeing Payroll Deductions?
- We have created a new page specifically for How-to Videos, and we added seven new videos for My FAMLI+ Employer including two videos on how to submit wages, how to make payments, how to manage employer-TPA relationships and more!
Virtual Town Halls
Thank you to the FAMLI team with all of their help with our first set of virtual town halls. We held two town halls on February 28, one in English and one in Spanish. There were about 2k attendees. Our presenters were Cher Haavind and David Gallivan for the English session and Ernesto Martinez and Victor Pena were the presenters during the Spanish session. Thank you to all of our many fearless SMEs who volunteered to support us in answering questions. Our next Virtual Town Hall will be held March 21, and we already have more than 1,200 people registered. You can find the registration information here.
Facebook Live
Our last Facebook Live was held on March 7 at noon, and you can view it here. Please watch and listen to David remind us that he is not a tax lawyer and listen for his pop culture reference (hint: it involves Batman!) The next one is scheduled for March 23 at noon.
Did You Know?
GPPR has a project request form! The best way to let us know about your project needs is to submit a project request form. Please provide a link to your content and one of our available designers or a FAMLI Comms Strategists will reach out to you. As our department, team, and projects are growing, our project request form is an essential tool for the efficiency of our workflows, so that we can better serve you. The form can also be found on the GPPR intranet page.

- Employers may apply for a self-insured private plan through the portal. They will be able to apply for a carrier private plan once carrier plans are approved by the Division of Insurance. There is also a How-to Video to assist employers in this process, you can find it on the How-to Videos Page.

- Collections processes in Salesforce
- Private Plans Phase 2
- Business closure process
- Completed end-to-end testing for check payments! Employers can now mail checks to pay premiums, but we want to encourage them to use any other option to avoid mail delays.
