Dillon Honors Fallen Heroes in Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony
Dillon, May 23 — The Dillon Cemetery, a hallowed ground that holds the memories of countless heroes, is set to host a Memorial Day Ceremony to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. The event is organized by the Town of Dillon and will take place on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the cemetery's picturesque grounds.
The Memorial Day Ceremony has become a cherished tradition in the local community, serving as a poignant reminder of the selfless sacrifices made by those who fought to protect the freedoms we hold dear. The event will gather families, friends, and community members who wish to honor and remember our fallen heroes.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Following color guard, star spangled banner, pledge of allegiance and table honors, there will be a reading of the names of the interred service members at the Dillon Cemetery.
Adding to the solemnity of the occasion, the Summit Concert Band will perform a rendition of “America the Beautiful” and "Taps," a traditional bugle call associated with military funerals. The reverential notes will echo across the cemetery, honoring our fallen heroes.
The Memorial Day Ceremony at Dillon Cemetery is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend and participate in this commemoration. Attendees are encouraged to bring old flags to have them properly retired.
The Town of Dillon extends its deepest gratitude to Summit County veterans for their service and invites everyone to join us in honoring and remembering our fallen heroes at Dillon Cemetery this Memorial Day.
