Hi Everyone!
Let’s talk turkey!! My team will attest to the fact that to this day, I still like to say that “I’m almost a doctor”. I have solved a lot of tricky problems in my time and continue to seek solutions for difficult challenges. One problem that I have yet to solve is to find a way to medically justify Thanksgiving dinner. I think that we can all agree that there are some foods on the menu that are less controversial than others. Turkey, cranberry sauce, salad, and most of the other side dishes aren’t going to raise too many eyebrows. Deserts are not part of this study as there is little argument that giant pieces of pie and whipped cream will never make it to the list of health food. My goal is to primarily focus on stuffing, gravy and beer. How can anything that good not be good for you? Well, difficult problems require bold solutions, and I am going to step out on this limb.
As your Marina Director and self-proclaimed almost doctor, I am announcing that stuffing, gravy and beer are good for you! That’s right! Loosen up the belt and dig in!!!
(warning: this message has absolutely no merit and is contrary to all medical advice. Ask a real doctor about your risk of too much stuffing, gravy and beer. Stuffing, gravy and beer may cause loss of appetite, tightening of the pants, lack of focus, heart palpitations and uncontrollable napping. Contact your doctor immediately if you or anyone you know passes out face first into stuffing and gravy as this may be a serious sign of addiction).
That’s right my friends! Get yourself some stuffing, smother it in gravy and wash it down with a beer!! Tell them that some guy named Craig said it was ok!
Ok……. back to work here. As we continue to wrap boats through what has been a very cold November, one learns to appreciate any reusable cover that can be easily installed, affordable and holds up extremely well to Colorado High Country winter weather. Plastic recycling has become very unreliable and has proven to be almost impossible in our region. If you do the math, annually we install approximately 76,000 square feet of plastic shrink wrap in the fall with no guarantee that it can be recycled in the spring. If you haven’t already guessed, I’m making another push for your consideration of a “Ship Shape” cover. I just purchased one for my Capri 30 “Charlie Brown”. My cover will arrive very shortly and once it’s here, will take me about an hour to install. More than that, the return on my investment will take less than two years and last for many years to come.
I have no dog in this race. I am not affiliated with Ship Shape and gain nothing from my endorsement. If you decide to make the same decision, the marina will actually be losing fall revenue. The reality is that I have watched these covers perform exceptionally well, are affordable and will help reduce the amount of plastic that goes into our landfill.
Ok my friends! Enjoy the holidays, try not to pass out at the table and we’ll talk soon.
