Amy Miller has been hired as the new director of the Division of Aging and Adult Protective Services. Located within the Office of Adult, Aging and Disability Services under the Colorado Department of Human Services, this position will oversee staff and operations for the State Unit on Aging as well as Adult Protective Services.
Amy has spent the majority of her career working with older adults. In this role, she will have the opportunity to lead the daily operations of the division, including supervision and oversight of all 64 county departments of social/human services in the administration of their Adult Protective Services programs and the 16 Area Agencies on Aging in the administration of programs and services funded by the Older Americans Act and State Funding for Senior Services.
For the past eight years, Amy has worked at Jefferson Center for Mental Health in a variety of roles, including senior reach clinician and national consultant, senior reach coordinator and manager of senior services. In her most recent role as the director of Adult Outpatient Services, Amy had oversight of 100 employees as well as led the Outpatient Services Operations, providing strategic direction and programmatic leadership.
Prior to her work at Jefferson Center for Mental Health, Amy worked at the Alzheimer’s Association for over six years as a care consultation manager and then as the director of Family Services for the statewide program.
Amy received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver with a focus in Clinical Practice in the Adult and Late Life Challenges track. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of South Dakota.
