We are excited to announce that Nina Mak will be the new and inaugural Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS) Head of Product, reporting jointly to CDHS Executive Director Michelle Barnes and HCPF Executive Director Kim Bimestefer.
This is a new position that will provide strategic leadership to the cross-agency CBMS team, which consists of staff from the Colorado Department of Human Services, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing and the Governor’s Office of Information Technology. In this new role, Nina will oversee all aspects of CBMS, including strategic planning, communications, procurement, client correspondence and process improvement, working very closely with management and subject matter experts across the agencies. She will also help bring innovative approaches to address technology challenges and keep CBMS up to date with best practices.
“Colorado provides critical public assistance for community members across the state,” Nina said. “I look forward to working with the dedicated CBMS team to make sure that these programs have the technology they need to effectively serve our community, and we’re making it as easy as possible for people to use the benefits available to them."
Nina currently serves as the Digital Transformation Lead, Innovation & Technology for the City of Boulder. She was previously the Chief Product Officer for GSA’s Technology Transformation Services, and she brings over a decade of experience in the public and private sectors leading strategic technology initiatives to improve service delivery, user experience and operations. Prior to this, Nina worked for non-profit organizations in public policy. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about building collaborative, inclusive, high-functioning teams that help make a difference in people’s lives.
Nina holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master's from the Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She lives in Boulder and enjoys playing board games, cooking, traveling and getting outdoors as much as possible with her family.
