Dear Early Intervention Families,
We invite you to join The Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) and the Early Intervention (EI) Program at an upcoming family meeting to discuss concerns and long-term solutions related to the EI budget.
As a reminder, your current early intervention services remain unchanged.
Mary Alice Cohen, the Chief Program Officer at CDEC, will lead the meetings designed for families of children enrolled in Early Intervention Colorado services. Based on feedback from previous meetings, we will cover several topics, including pathways to advocacy, understanding EI funding, transition from Early Intervention Part C to Part B preschool special education services, the primary provider model, and family rights.
We are committed to working with you to ensure ongoing access to early intervention services while also finding sustainable cost-containment strategies. As a result of ongoing discussions between state agencies and the JBC to secure additional funding this year, we have paused the cost-containment measures. The Department will issue an updated memo as soon as one becomes available.
Please join us for the upcoming meetings. Detailed notes will be provided for each work session for those who cannot attend. As we finalize topics for each session, we will send an email with the details.
