Dear Early Intervention Partners,
We are writing to provide an update on the Early Intervention (EI) program and to reaffirm our commitment to working collaboratively to ensure its sustainability.
A memo was distributed on February 25th detailing potential cost-containment measures identified given the difficult state budget environment. Since then, the Joint Budget Committee (JBC) met on Thursday, Feb. 27th with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) to discuss potential solutions that protect direct services and minimize impact to providers by leveraging existing funding. We are grateful for the action and willingness of the JBC to explore potential solutions to address challenges in Early Intervention (EI) services and ensure their sustainability for children and families.
As of now, none of the cost containment measures have gone into effect. CDEC is actively collaborating with the JBC, providers, partners, and legislative staff to identify the most effective solutions as we remain committed to providing high-quality services for children and families.
We appreciate your patience, and additional information will be provided as soon as it is available.
Please join us for our upcoming public meetings:
For Families:
For Providers:
The CDEC and the Early Intervention Team recognize and value the energy, heart, and commitment you bring to early intervention. We are working tirelessly to find solutions that will best support children, families, EI Brokers, providers, and EI Evaluation Entities while making budget decisions that will sustain this program moving forward.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we navigate the potential next steps together.
Sincerely,
Lenita Hartman, Acting EI Program Manager
