CASCADE - Colorado Assessment Scale for Coercion and Abuse Desistance Training
The Colorado Assessment Scale for Coercion and Abuse Desistence (CASCADE) is a structured risk assessment tool used to evaluate and place domestic violent offenders into differential domestic violence treatment. This tool has been piloted by DVOMB Approved Providers and Probation Officers in some areas of Colorado and provides promising improvements to the Domestic Violence Risk and Needs Assessment (DVRNA). The CASCADE has been reengineered to separate static and dynamic risk factors that predict someone’s likelihood of committing a new domestic violence offense. This cutting-edge tool incorporates advancements in risk assessment and allows for better treatment planning for enhanced victim and community safety. Day one will primarily focus on the Static factors and how to score those items under the new items using case examples in the afternoon. Day two will primarily focus on the Dynamic factors and how to score those items using case examples in the afternoon.
