Updates & Guidance

Important Update regarding CVS 2026 Funding Process

Due to continuing fluctuations in funding at the federal level, the OVP Grants Team and CVS Advisory Board have decided that the next competitive application process for CVS funds (VOCA, STOP VAWA, SASP, and State General Funds) will open in January 2025 and cover funding for Calendar Year 2026, rather than for a 2-year period as in previous cycles. Please reach out to cvsgrants@state.co.us with questions.

Quarterly Reporting Reminders

The Grants Team has noticed a few common errors on quarterly reports. When completing your narrative and data reports, please remember:

• Only report on CVS-funded activities and services (e.g. if you are not funded to provide training, please do not include these activities in your reports).
• Data must be pro-rated.

Learning Opportunities

• Registration is open for the 36th Annual COVA Conference being held on October 14-16 in Keystone, Colorado. The tentative agenda is now posted on the conference website.
• The Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA) is holding the 2024 Annual SART Institute in-person on August 29th in Centennial, Colorado.
• CCASA and the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender Based Violence are hosting a four-part webinar series called Breaking Barriers: Enhancing Language Access in Support of Survivors. Attendees can join one or all sessions:
  1. August 7th- Session 1: Language, Culture, Identity, and Language Access: Exploring the Intersections
  2. August 14th- Session 2: Understanding the Vital Role of Interpreters in Language Access for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence
  3. August 21st- Session 3: Enhancing Access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence – A Conversation
  4. August 22nd- Session 4: The Importance of Language Access Planning

Free Tools

• Activating Change has compiled a toolkit for those working to advance criminal justice reform. The Toolkit: Partnering with Disability Organizations to Enhance Criminal Legal Reforms can be downloaded for free. 
• End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI) provides a free, public website for survivors and support people called Seek then Speak. The Seek portion of the website offers information on medical care, support services and reporting options. The Speak portion of the website allows the user to complete a self guided investigative interview that can be used to start the law enforcement reporting process. 

Additional Funding Opportunities

• The Colorado Department of Human Services' Domestic Violence Program has released a Domestic Violence Program Needs Assessment solicitation. Visit the Colorado Vendor Self-Service (VSS) portal and search "DVP" to view solicitation DQ 2025000044 DVP Needs Assessment.
• The Center for Victim Research is currently accepting proposals for their 9-month, $15,000 Researcher-Practitioner Minigrants. The minigrants are for researcher-practitioner partnerships for projects that explore issues of victimization or victim/survivor response related to gun violence or community violence. Proposal submissions are due by August 9th.
