As Mayor Stephanie Piko’s time leading Centennial draws to a close, we offer our heartfelt gratitude for her many years of steadfast, visionary service. Since becoming the City’s third mayor in 2018 — after six years on City Council — she has guided Centennial with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach that emphasizes innovation, inclusion, and sustainable growth.
Under her leadership, Centennial has emerged as a regional leader in infrastructure, community development, and technology. Mayor Piko was deeply involved in the launch of the City-wide Centennial FiberWorks initiative — a fiber-optic network that enhances digital connectivity, supports smart-city services, and strengthens public and private infrastructure across Centennial.
She also championed transportation and redevelopment projects, including the replacement of the 75-year-old Arapahoe Road Bridge, now improved with pedestrian access, enhanced safety, and community art features that make the City more connected and walkable.
Mayor Piko prioritized public safety and community well-being, strengthening law-enforcement partnerships, expanding community safety programs, including the addition of School Resource Officers, and establishing Centennial’s first Homelessness Coordinator to ensure residents in crisis have access to crucial resources.
Beyond infrastructure and safety, she invested in community engagement and education. Drawing on her background as an educator, she helped connect youth with career pathways through the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus and the Littleton EPIC Campus, providing opportunities for students to access internships, apprenticeships, and real-world workforce opportunities. She also helped bring professional women’s sports to Centennial through a partnership with Denver National Women’s Soccer League and helped establish the Centennial Faith Council to strengthen community support networks.
Under Mayor Piko’s leadership, the City has earned national recognition for excellence. In 2025, Centennial was named the #1 Best Place to Live in Colorado by U.S. News & World Report, a strong testament to the quality of life, safety, and opportunities in Centennial.
Her dedication extended well beyond City limits, as she served Centennial and the region through leadership roles on multiple boards including the Metro Mayors Caucus Executive Board, Mile High Flood District (as Chair), the Denver South Transportation Management Association (as Chair), and the National League of Cities Advisory and Research Boards bringing regional influence, collaboration, and forward-thinking policy to benefit Centennial.
Mayor Piko’s service has shaped many milestones for Centennial: from modernized infrastructure and improved connectivity, to enhanced public safety, enriched cultural and educational opportunities, and a future-ready local economy supported by innovation and smart growth.
We thank Mayor Piko for her unwavering commitment, leadership, and vision. Her legacy will continue to guide Centennial’s journey for years to come, and we wish her every success in what comes next.
