Fireworks & Safety in Centennial
Know Before You Light
As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July, the City of Centennial reminds residents to be safe, stay informed and follow the law when it comes to fireworks.
While no fire ban is currently in effect, only a limited number of fireworks are permitted within City limits—and it's important to know before you light.
Permissible Fireworks
In alignment with Colorado state law and Arapahoe County regulations, Centennial only allows fireworks that remain on the ground and do not explode. Examples of fireworks that are permitted include:
- Sparklers
- Fountains and cone fountains
- Ground spinners and wheels
- Glow worms and snakes
- Illuminating torches
- Party poppers and trick noise-makers
Prohibited Fireworks
Illegal fireworks include anything that flies through the air or explodes. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Bottle rockets
- Roman candles
- Mortars
- Firecrackers
- Cherry bombs
- M-80s
These types of fireworks pose serious fire and safety risks and are not allowed in Centennial.
Enforcement & Safety Reminders
The City is teaming up with the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office to help keep our neighborhoods safe and sound this 4th of July.

Fireworks patrols will take place July 2–5 in Centennial neighborhoods, conducted by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
- The sale of all forms of fireworks remains prohibited within City limits.
-
Fireworks are not permitted in any Centennial parks or open spaces.
- In the event of a fire ban, fireworks would be included and enforced by the Sheriff’s Office in coordination with fire and code officials.
