Centennial Chalk Art Festival
Returns Saturday, September 16
Join the City of Centennial to watch in awe as more than 75 talented artists showcase their colors and bring chalk art masterpieces to life—right at your feet—at the Chalk Art Festival on Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Streets at SouthGlenn.
While shopping local merchants, family and friends can enjoy colorful activities such as Art Rocks from the Centennial Arts and Culture Foundation, the exciting sounds of a live, outdoor concert and witness the artists’ vivid artworks in action before casting votes on their favorite pieces. Eventgoers can vote in three categories by 3 p.m., with the winning artists revealed at 3:30 p.m. at the stage in Commons Park.
This year’s Chalk Art Festival event schedule has a little bit of everything:
-
10-11:30 a.m. School of Rock: a music school for all skill levels, ages and musical aspirations. With students ranging from toddlers to adults, School of Rock is where music students grow into real musicians.
-
Noon-1:30 p.m. Break Signals: use searing dual guitars, strong vocal melodies, and a thick rhythm section, creating a unique, explosive sound with rich textures that are just as fun to kick back and listen to as they are to dance to.
-
2-3:30 p.m. Some Sweet Day: an old-time music playing style that pre-dates bluegrass, emerges from the string band tradition stretching back to the early years of United States history.
-
3 p.m. The deadline for eventgoers to cast their votes (Kids Choice, People’s Choice and Artists Choice).
-
3:30 p.m. Chalk Art Winners announced at the stage in Commons Park.
All ages are welcome to attend this free, family-friendly event, so come down and join the City for an inspiring night of creativity and community at The Streets at SouthGlenn (6851 S. Vine Street.)
Thank you to our event sponsors: Jacobs, Ting, Centennial Hospital, Renewal by Andersen, Smoky Hill KinderCare Learning Center and Lunch Wired.
