Climber Sustains Serious Injury After Fall in Eldorado Canyon State Park

Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a fallen climber in Eldorado Canyon State Park.

A 29-year-old male climber was on the Vertigo rappels when he fell approximately 90 feet. Rescue teams administered initial medical treatment and carefully secured the injured climber in a rescue litter for evacuation across steep, unstable terrain. The individual was then transported by ambulance to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation and care.

The climbing partner who was stuck without a rope was also rescued off the rock. The rescue operation lasted approximately three hours.

Agencies assisting with the rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Eldorado Canyon State Park, Mountain View Fire Rescue, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
