Volunteer Visitor and Respite Assistance Referrals: Volunteers matched with older adults who live alone or with a family caregiver provide respite, a friendly visit, and a caring connection. Respite Assistance funds can help pay for respite care for a caregiver.
Social Groups and Educational Programs for family caregivers and those living with dementia (options may vary quarterly).

Forgiveness can decrease anger, anxiety, and depression — but it’s not always easy or even appropriate. Join us for an interactive discussion on the complexities of forgiveness. Together we’ll explore new perspectives and leave with practical tools. Facilitated by Senior Services staff Kayleigh Schernbeck, LCSW and a Peer Support Volunteer. The holidays can be a stressful time for your person living with dementia. We'll discuss ways to modify your celebrations so that your person can be successful and ways to educate and empower guests and loved ones to be able to engage effectively with your person. Each participant will have an opportunity to build a plan for their holiday celebrations based on their person's situation. Presented by Brenda Gurung, Montessori-credentialed dementia specialist with 16 years of experience in aging and dementia.

If you are hoping 2026 brings change, we invite you to try vision boarding. This simple practice can help you clarify and focus your intentions toward creating the life you desire. Supplies are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own magazines, printouts, photos, crafting/art supplies. Senior Services’ staff Kayleigh Schernbeck, LCSW will guide the group through this process.
City of Boulder Older Adult Services
City of Boulder Older Adult Services offers a variety of health and wellness, lifelong learning, aging in place programs, as well as special interest groups. Programs are offered online as well as in-person at the East and West Age Well Centers.
Case Managers are available to assist City of Boulder residents 60+ and their caregivers with referrals to community resources, options counseling, and financial support for eligible clients. To speak with a Case Manager, please call 303-441-4388.

Community Protection Division Drop-in Office Hours

The Community Protection Division of the Boulder County District Attorney can answer questions and concerns about disputes between individual consumers and businesses, including various types of scams. Older adults can meet with a Community Protection Specialist once a month for 15-30 minutes to discuss personal situations and ask questions. The Community Protection Specialist is not able to answer legal questions or provide legal advice. Drop-in on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers must check in at front desk.

The Conversation Project in Boulder County (TCPBC) can assist with advance care planning through confidential, free coaching. Cultivate is a local non-profit organization that provides no cost services to older adults 60+ living in Boulder County. Cultivate connects older adults with volunteers to assist with a variety of needs including minor home repairs, grocery delivery, medical transportation for Veterans, lawn clean up, and snow removal. Breast Cancer and Osteoporosis

This class will review strategies to decrease the chance of developing breast cancer, how to prevent fractures, and additional time for Q&A on both topics. Instructor: Dr. Kallos has practiced medicine since 1970, was founder and director of the Breast Health Center and Diagnostic Ultrasound in Florida, and Associate Director of the Women’s Breast Center at University of Miami.
SPARK Pottery with Groundworks Art Lab
West Age Well Center

SPARK programs are designed for individuals living with neurodegenerative diseases, including any stage of dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's and should be accompanied by a caregiver or partner when necessary. There are no applications or barriers to joining this class so long as you or your partner meet the requirements.
Join SPARK and Groundworks Art Lab for a monthly hand building class on the second Tuesday at the West Age Well Center. Participants will learn about the three fundamentals of pottery to make functional and whimsical pieces: pinch pots, coils, and slabs. Groundworks Art Lab will supply all materials and tools, and all work will be processed at their Pottery Lab facility. Information will be given during the class about how to collect finished pieces. This program is sponsored by Groundworks Art Lab, Alzheimer's Association and City of Boulder Older Adult Services.

Language and Symbols at End of Life

End-of-life educators and doulas Diane Hullet and Margaret Kane will share a presentation and lead a discussion about experiences at the end of life. What are some of the metaphors and symbolic language used by the dying? How might these experiences shift thoughts about dying? Participants explore these questions and more and leave with meaningful resources for continued reflection.
