Grass Fire Near Cherryvale and U.S. 36

Boulder County, Colo. - Multiple fire and law enforcement agencies responded to a grass fire near Cherryvale Road and U.S. 36 this afternoon. The grass fire, which was started on a City of Boulder Open Space property, was reported to the Boulder County Communications Center just before 3:00 p.m. today.

The fire grew to approximately 10 acres in size before it was contained, a little less than one hour after it was reported. Cherryvale Road was closed between South Boulder Road and Marshall Road. No structures were threatened, no evacuations, and no injuries have been reported.

The fire was started by heavy mowing equipment that was operating on the open space property, which caused a spark and subsequent grass fire.

The following agencies assisted with the fire response: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain View Fire Rescue, Lafayette Fire, Louisville Fire, Boulder Fire Rescue, and Boulder Police Department.
