After over two years and 60 newsletters, this will be the last Marshall Fire Recovery newsletter from Boulder County. We will continue to send you one-off news releases for important updates and topics relevant for recovery and rebuilding, but it will no longer be in the form of the monthly newsletter. After almost two years, the State of Colorado's Housing Recovery Program (HRP) will stop taking applications on July 15, 2024, for all Rebuilding and Mitigation forgivable and traditional loan applications from recent disasters. The program will prioritize lower income Coloradans with the remaining funds. With one-time funding authorized by SB22-206 and leveraged federal disaster funds, the Housing Recovery Program will provide $17M in state funds and $7.4M in federal funds to provide forgivable and traditional loans to impacted households. Colorado is no stranger to disasters. Every year, we become more familiar with wildfires, floods, tornadoes, and extreme storms; and more familiar with what it means to respond to and recover from these disasters.

To ensure that Colorado effectively addresses these frequent events, the State of Colorado, through a number of partnering agencies, has developed a Disaster Survivor Survey to better understand the experiences of individuals who have been affected by disasters. On May 29, 2024, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission unanimously approved a one-year extension for the Xcel Marshall Fire Rebuild Rebates for those customers who lost their homes and are rebuilding. Read more about the Xcel Marshall Fire rebuild rebates.

Individuals who were impacted by the fire, which include first and secondary responders, can register for counseling with a local licensed behavioral health provider through the Boulder County Crisis Counseling (BCCC) program.

Everyone who has registered for the program since Dec. 30, 2021, will receive 15 sessions. The registration portal will remain open for new registrations until Sunday, June 30. All participants will have until Dec. 31, 2024, to use their 15 sessions.

The Impact Development Fund Disaster Recovery Team will be available for in-person intake appointments for select days in June and July. These appointments are specifically for the funding programs operated by Impact Development Fund. Please note that there are no walk-in appointments available and appointments must be booked in advance.

New application appointments, which are only for people applying for the first time, can be booked up to 12 hours in advance. Follow up/Status appointments for existing applicants can be booked up to 18 hours before.

Appointments are available at the Louisville Public Library on Thursday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 8 p.m. .Click for the Louisville appointment scheduler. Although the Marshall Fire Recovery Center closed on May 31, 2024, Marshall ROC Advisors are supporting the community with these one-on-one appointments to continue helping you in-person with your recovery and rebuilding needs.

The coordinated debris removal program for Boulder County, Louisville, and Superior was responsible for clearing the Marshall Fire-destroyed property of ash and debris. In four months, Boulder County’s contractor, DRC, and their teams cleared ash, debris, vegetative material, concrete, and other waste related to the Marshall Fire from 566 participating properties, which includes 260 in Louisville, 242 in Superior, and 64 in unincorporated Boulder County.

• 566 households participated in the program.
• 70% of participants have completed the insurance reconciliation process.

Public comments are sought for the review of the Boulder County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) update. Download the draft CWPP and submit comments through June 21.

The CWPP provides a means for Boulder County to evaluate current conditions with regard to wildfire risks and hazards. Boulder County would like feedback on the draft plan to ensure it meets the needs of the community and effectively addresses public concerns.
