The Marshall Fire Moving Forward - Funding and Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Ascent Community Church, 550 S. McCaslin Blvd., Louisville. Choose from two sessions: 10 a.m. to noon or noon to 2 p.m. Join Marshall ROC, the Colorado State Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), and more than 30 disaster recovery partners, funders, government agencies, municipalities, recovery navigators, and nonprofit organizations who are collaborating to present a community-wide event focused on providing the most up-to-date information on funding and all the recovery and rebuilding resources available. The Sales Use Tax Exemption Wildfire Disaster Construction Act (HB23-1240) created a refundable exemption for the state sales and use tax paid for construction and building materials used directly in rebuilding or repairing a qualified homeowner's qualified residential structure due to a declared wildfire disaster between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2022. The state has released Form DR 0992: Application for Wildfire Rebuild Exemption Certificate and updated their FAQ page regarding this refund. Recovery Navigators began helping property owners on July 25, 2022 who were impacted by the Marshall Fire and Straight-Line Wind Event. To keep the community in the loop about the progress of the program, monthly reports are posted on the Navigating Disaster website. The monthly reports share information including major activities & accomplishments, trends & concerns, programmatic challenges, future planning, client impact stories, and program data. View the August report.

The Marshall Fire Community is reaching out to support the Maui Fire Community as we all move forward with healing and recovery. T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts are available in all sizes. Proceeds from purchases and donations will be going to support both the Marshall Fire and Maui recoveries. Colorado Nonprofit Development Center is the fiscal sponsor of Team Marshall.

Marshall ROC (Restoring Our Community), the long-term recovery group for the Marshall Fire and Windstorm, needs your help in recognizing all of the amazing volunteers, donors, businesses, individuals, and organizations who have helped in the recovery, rebuilding, and restoring of our community. The Marshall Fire and Windstorm Disaster recovery continues to require the hard work and dedication of so many individuals and organizations. Over the last 20 months and counting, think about who has made a positive difference in your life and/or recovery and rebuilding journey. Who you think should be recognized as a "Marshall ROC Star?" Submit a nomination(s) form by Sunday, Oct. 1.
