Hazardous Materials Management Facility no longer requiring appointment

FREE disposal of household hazardous waste for Boulder County and Broomfield residents; Businesses also eligible for drop off

Boulder County, Colo. - The doors of the county’s Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF), 1901 63rd St. in Boulder, are once again open without appointment after requiring them due to health concerns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents of Boulder County, including all of Erie, and the City and County of Broomfield are welcome to stop by to dispose of items like paint, motor oil, batteries, fertilizers, bleach, household cleaners, and a lot more.

Residential drop-off is available without appointment between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. Businesses in both Boulder and Broomfield counties are still required to make an appointment due to the volume and types of of waste typically brought into the facility by these users. Business owners and managers can learn more about their options by visiting the HMMF for businesses webpage.

“Everyone at the HMMF is excited that services have been restored to pre-pandemic levels,” said HMMF manager Shelly Fuller. “We really want people to utilize this tremendous service and help prevent toxic materials from ending up in area landfills or entering the environment in other locations, so come out and see us. We can’t wait to see you.”

The HMMF also accepts waste from residents outside of the Boulder County for a fee.

Free Reuse Area

While you're at the HMMF, make sure to check out the FREE reuse area. There are a lot of materials, like interior and exterior paints and stains, that may help you complete your next home improvement project and save you some money at the same time.
