Hiker takes 20-foot fall west of Boulder
Boulder County, Colo. - On Friday, October 29, 2021, at approximately 1:44 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 57-year-old female hiker who had taken an approximately 20-foot tumbling fall after losing her balance while she was taking a picture off the Flatiron Loop Trail. At the time, the female from Lakewood, Colorado, was hiking with her sister.
The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group was able to quickly access the injured hiker, who was approximately ten minutes west of the Bluebell Shelter. After evaluating her injuries, rescuers including two City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Rangers, decided that she should be carried in a litter to the American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance. AMR personnel further evaluated and then transported the patient to a Boulder area hospital. The rescue took approximately 50 minutes.
Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountains Parks and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
