Hello Boulder County Voters:

Colorado will hold its first Presidential Primary Election in two decades on March 3, 2020 – Super Tuesday! Ballots for the Presidential Primary are mailed beginning February 10. Watch this fun 60-second video about the primary or check out what you need to know to participate below.

The Presidential Primary:
What you need to know!

• Presidential primaries in Colorado are only held by the Democratic and Republican Parties. You must be registered as a Democrat, Republican, or Unaffiliated to participate. (Unsure how you are registered? Check now!)
• Registered Democrats will receive only the Democratic Party ballot. Registered Republicans will receive only the Republican Party ballot.
• Unaffiliated voters will be mailed both party ballots but can only vote and return one. Up until February 3, unaffiliated voters can also pre-pick their ballot preference, if they wish, by updating their voter registration online.
• February 3 is the last day for voters who are already registered with a political party to change their affiliation if they wish to vote in a different party’s primary election.
• ***NEW*** 17-year-olds who will turn 18-years-old by the General Election, November 3, 2020 – Can now VOTE in Primaries!
• Colorado does not have a registration deadline. You can register up to and including Election Day (new registrants, change of address, etc.). But, Feb 3 is the deadline if you want to change party affiliation.

Donuts & Democracy Elections Presentation in Longmont   The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder is hosting a community presentation on everything you need to know about the upcoming 3 elections: Presidential Primary, June 30 Primary, and the November General Election. Learn about what happens behind the scenes to ensure an efficient, accurate, and secure election. The presentation includes info on the next three elections, ballot processing, voter statistics, election security, and more.  PLUS - Feb 8 is the museum free day, so you can stay and check out the art after! Donuts & coffee will be served. Space is limited! RSVP to ensure a donut today.   Longmont Museum – Saturday, February 8  – 10:30 a.m. – 400 Quail Rd, Longmont, Colorado 80501   The presentation and Q&A is expected to last about 45-60 minutes. Have you moved recently?

If you have moved since the last election, you should check your voter registration and make sure your mailing address is correct. 

Important Dates:

Feb 3:

• Last day for voters who are affiliated with a political party to change or withdraw their affiliation if they wish to vote in a different party’s primary election for the March 3 Presidential Primary Election.

• (Optional only) Last day for Unaffiliated voters to specify in their voter registration a ballot preference. Otherwise, they will receive both party ballots, but can only vote and return one.
