Fourmile Canyon Project Update for Aug. 28

Here is the anticipated three-week schedule for work in Fourmile Canyon:

Two additional walls will be fully formed and poured over the next two to three working days. All that will remain at these sites is installing the rock veneer. The stone work will need to be completed with the use of the concrete barrier as it is currently in place, but Lawrence anticipates shifting both work zones by mid-September so they can work on the one remaining wall that hasn't been started and also to install a large 8' x 5' reinforced concrete box culvert. Both of these structures are located near the project's northern end, just down from Salina Junction.

Lawrence also anticipates that they will begin removing the old asphalt from the south project area starting the week of Sept. 16. After removing the asphalt, they will need to rebuild the subsurface, which could take up to one month depending on the condition of the material that was placed after flood. This means that paving of the south section is anticipated for early to mid-October.

Crews working in the south project zone will also begin to restore the creek and surrounding landscape. They'd like to complete this work by the end of September.

No work will take place this coming Monday, Sept. 2 in observation of Labor Day, so cyclists will be allowed to ride in the canyon on this day.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

Andrew Barth
