8 North, LLC Proposes Well Locations in Erie and Weld County
8 North has informed Boulder County, Lafayette, and the COGCC that it intends to place the wells in Weld Country and Erie
Boulder County, Colo. - On September 19, 2017, 8 North, LLC submitted application to
the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) to establish two units
for potential drill sites. The applications identified large areas for future
drilling sites potentially within Lafayette, Erie, and unincorporated Boulder
County. Boulder County and Lafayette filed protests with the COGCC, citing
public health and safety concerns with wells within their jurisdictions.
On
June 21, 2018, 8 North informed Boulder County, Lafayette, and the COGCC that
it intends to place the wells for the northern unit in Weld County and the
wells for the southern unit within the Town of Erie. If 8 North follows through on its
stated intentions, the surface locations will not be in the regulatory
jurisdiction of Boulder County or Lafayette.
The hearing on 8 North’s applications is scheduled for July 30-31 in Denver at the COGCC offices. Boulder County filed its pre-hearing statements as an intervenor in the applications and as required by the COGCC on June 21, 2018:
