Wildland Fire near the 15000 block of Moss Rock Court in Northern Boulder County
Boulder County, Colo. - On June 15, 2018 at approximately 4:41 p.m. the Boulder County Regional Communications Center received a 9-1-1 telephone call regarding a small fire near the 15000 block of Moss Rock Court in Northern Boulder County. Firefighters from Lyon Fire Department, Lefthand Fire Protection District, Berthoud Fire Protection District, Boulder County Sheriff's Office Fire Management, and Deputies with the Sheriff's Office responded to the area.
The fire had grown from a small one hundred yard by sixty foot area to approximately one and three quarter acres very quickly. Firefighters were able to surround the fire and it is approximately fifty percent contained at this time. No structures were threatened, but residence near the fire self-evacuated. They have since returned home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but witnesses in the area heard thunder and shortly thereafter saw smoke and flames in the area. Firefighters will remain at the scene to monitor "hot spots" within the burn area.
