Early Morning Structure Fire Niwot, Colorado

Boulder County, Colo. -

On Wednesday morning at approximately 2:30 a.m., Boulder County Sheriff's Communications received a report of a commercial fire alarm at Colterra Food & Wine, located in the 200 block Franklin Street in Niwot.

Communications received multiple calls from Trident Security Alarm Company stating the alarm was coming from the kitchen area.  Members of Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Mountain View Fire Department, Boulder Rural Department and Boulder Fire Department responded.  When personnel arrived, smoke was visible on the north side of the building.  Crews worked quickly to contain the fire to the Colterra building, and only one precautionary evacuation was made.  Weather conditions were not an aggravating factor for firefighting operations.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by members of Mountain View Fire Department and is ongoing.  The kitchen of Colterra Food & Wine sustained heavy damage and no other loses reported.
