Boulder County, Colo.  Boulder County Clerk residents can now renew their vehicle registration at a self-service kiosk thanks to a pilot program recently launched at the County’s Motor Vehicle Office in Boulder. This afternoon, Clerk Hillary Hall will discuss the benefits of the new kiosk and demonstrate how a renewal works on the machine. Commissioner Deb Gardner will join.

What:   Boulder County Clerk Hillary Hall will discuss the benefits of the new Motor Vehicle Express Renewal Kiosk joined by Boulder County Commissioner Deb Gardner. A live renewal will be demonstrated.

When:  Monday, September 11 at 4 p.m.

Where: 1750 33rd Street in Boulder – main lobby

The new technology is expected to reduce wait time for those renewing their license plates and build capacity in motor vehicle staff to assist customers with more complex title and registration transactions.

Resembling an ATM machine, the bright yellow and blue self-serve kiosk is available from 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Boulder County Clerk & Recorder at 1750 33rd Street in Boulder. As with other motor vehicle services offered in this facility, the stand-alone kiosk will serve Boulder County residents only. Boulder County is one of sixteen counties in Colorado installing the MV Express Kiosks in 2017.

The kiosk transaction is simple and fast. Using the touch screen residents simply type in their license plate number, follow the instructions on the screen, and renew the license plates. The kiosk collects all taxes and fees and currently accepts cash, check, and credit or debit card. The county pays the $3.00 fee per transaction to the kiosk company so the public. The kiosk dispenses two receipts along with the vehicle registration and plate tab on the spot. The entire transaction can be completed in less than a minute or two.
