Response to Presumed Death of Ashley Mead, Intern with Boulder County's Head Start Program

Statement from Boulder County Community Services and our Head Start Division

Boulder County, Colo. - (February 17, 2017)

It is with heavy hearts that we begin to absorb the news of Ashley’s tragic death. Ashley has been an Intern Teacher in our program since October 2016. The shock and horror of her death has left many of us without adequate words to truly describe the loss we feel. Our staff and families are grieving, and we as a school community are rallying together to support each other.

As a close-knit community of teachers, parents, and public servants, we will remember Ashley as the extremely vibrant and caring young woman she was. Her bubbly personality, her radiant love for her baby girl, and her zany clothing choices are a few of the hallmarks we will miss. She was a dreamer and goal setter with lots of love for all. We are holding Ashley and her daughter, Winter Daisy, and their entire family in our hearts.
