“This year we are excited to offer more Winter
Cycling Skills classes than ever before,” said Alex Hyde-Wright, Bicycle
Planner, Boulder County. “These informal
classes are designed to prepare fair-weather cyclists for some of the unique
challenges of riding in cold or snowy weather, and include discussions on
clothing, lights, bike handling and planning.”
While the weather on January 25 is usually sunny with
a high of 52, if it does snow, Boulder County generally plows arterial roads first,
followed by collectors and select local roads.
For Boulder County snow removal policies, visit: http://www.bouldercounty.org/roads/driveways/pages/snowremoval.aspx.
For snow removal policies within area cities and
towns, please contact them directly.
If you live too far from work or school to bike the
whole way, consider keeping a bike in one of Boulder County’s Bus-then-Bike
shelters. These are secure bicycle
parking facilities that extend the range of transit, like the Flatiron Flyer
service on US 36, by allowing you to ride the bus and then bike the last couple
miles. For a free access card, sign up
at www.BusThenBike.com.
