First burn Thurs., Jan. 5, at Hall Ranch (west of Lyons), weather permitting
Boulder County, Colo. - Seasonal slash pile burning will begin Thurs., Jan. 5, at Hall Ranch, weather permitting. Smoke and flames may be visible throughout the day and into the evening.
The Boulder County Fire Management Program will be conducting pile burning operations on Parks & Open Space properties throughout the winter. Over 400 piles have been constructed on the Walker Ranch and Hall Ranch properties. All operations are weather dependent.
The piles were constructed over the past year and a half from material that was generated from forest thinning projects. Large diameter logs have already been removed from the project sites and will not be burned in the piles. Boulder County Parks & Open Space and Sheriff’s Department staff will monitor the slash piles until they are completely out.
There will be no property or trail closures due to this forest management activity.
